He also tweeted to show his appreciation for the doctor who helped deliver the child.

Shahid is said to absolutely thrilled at this new experience and we hear that he has taken a long break from work to look after Meera for the next 1 month.

A source is quoted as saying, “They are extremely excited about welcoming their firstborn. Shahid is ensuring that Mira stays healthy and is safe. He will resume work only in October. As a caring husband and an expecting father, Shahid is always by Mira’s side.”

Shahid’s mother Neelima Azim is absolutely elated at the birth of her granddaughter. She revealed that she really wanted a granddaughter and couldn’t have been happier that her son’s first child is a girl.

“This is the first baby. I am a new grandmother. This is a new phase and I can’t explain how it feels like. I really wanted a granddaughter, so I am absolutely thrilled and I feel so blessed. I have two sons and now I have a granddaughter,” Neelima told IANS.

She further added, “I thank everybody for their wishes and support. Both mother and daughter are doing fine and my granddaughter looks absolutely gorgeous. Their parents are so happy. It’s the fourth generation.”

The child was earlier due in September but has been born prematurely.

Both Shahid and Meera’s family are followers of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, a spiritual group, and the two first met as a match arranged by their respective families.
